What Does My Spirit Want?

Oracle Card from ME Deck: painted by Shelley Stockwell Nicolas. www.hypnosisfederaton.com

Did you ever take the time to sit in silence and just ask, "What do I really want?" Sometimes we just do not know because our life gets in the way. We are so very busy with caretaking family, careers, and maintenance of self and homes. How many times have you said, "I need a vacation just to relax and unwind." or "I just want to have a day for myself that I can just do what I want to do." Our "have to do's" are more important than our "want to do's". But what if it wasn't? What if you were able to truly find time to "play"? Or create? Or just take a nap? It's possible and easy. But don't do it the way I did. I had to learn the hard way.

A few years ago, while being Super Mom, Super Employee, and Superwoman to anyone who needed me, I remember thinking and verbalizing, "I need a break." And that is what happened. Within two weeks of this thought, I fell and broke my leg in three places. I received from the universe exactly what I asked for. However, being out of work for three months was a gift in disguise; it brought me back in touch with my spirit.

During that down time, I read the books I always wanted to but never had the chance. Watched inspirational true films, wrote, and meditated, connecting to my higher mind. Questions I never thought about began emerging. Ones that really mattered. As I sat quietly, listening to calming instrumental music, the answers appeared in my mind. I heard my reading voice tell me what I most needed to know. I saw pictures that turned into scenes, and felt an array of emotions which I could not deny. Profound insight came when I allowed myself to receive it.

Those three months changed how I operated in the world. Before the fall I was constantly going, going, going. I pushed my body, and my mind to its limits. Something I felt I had to do. During convalescing, I realized my spirit was crying. It wanted to be heard and seen. It wanted to be acknowledged. My spirit is part of the triad; body, mind and spirit. I learned neglecting any part of ourselves creates imbalance and the opposite of what we want.

Here is an invitation to sit quietly and close your eyes. Take three long deep breaths. Set your intention that your desire is to connect with your spirit; your higher self that is directly connected to God, source, your creator. Your spirit has all the answers within. You can begin asking questions like, "What do I really want?" What do I most need to know?" "What does my spirit want? Ask any question where clarity is needed, and for your highest good. Take the time to listen. Perhaps you will see pictures in your mind or hear your reading voice. You may want to write what you hear, see or feel. It is easy, and you may feel like you are making it up. Well, the truth is your spirit, this wonderful special aspect of yourself is communicating with your conscious mind. If it feels like it's your imagination, remember "imagination is inspired information." When you encourage your spirit to speak, your life makes changes for the better. Everyone around you is affected for we are all connected. Your happiness is contagious, as you serve as an example of living your dream. It does not matter if the dream is as simple as enjoying quality time with friends and family or beginning a new career that feeds your soul. People become inspired and want to model what you are doing. You are just embracing the authentic version of yourself, and you do you perfectly. Keep the connection with your spirit strong; it will always guide you in the right direction.
