Oracle Card from ME Deck: painted by Shelley Stockwell Nicholas.
The holidays are upon us and there are a million things to do. Even though you may color code your calendar, practice excellent time management, and thrive when you check it off the list, somehow you still feel exhausted. Sometimes everything is a priority. Multi-tasking is difficult in the best of times. The holiday season makes it especially tough. Taking time out for a mini vacation break, even if it's only in your mind, is the best gift you can give yourself.
Signs telling you it's time to "take it easy."
You are cranky and irritable.
You may feel like crying over something meaningless.
You're overeating.
You're not eating enough.
Thoughts keep circling when you are trying to fall asleep.
You can't remember what you wanted to say.
You feel shaky
Your energy is low.
So many more signs but you get my point. Many of us push through because of deadlines and commitments. We soldier on. But is this wise?
When I was young mother in my thirties, I had all the above signs. I wanted to be the perfect wife and parent giving my son all the opportunity I could. I left no stone unturned to foster his development. I wore many hats in those days including holding down a full-time demanding job. Being perfect in my corporate career only added to the imbalance I created. What work-life balance? No such thing. Stress, responsibility overload, and exhaustion was my middle name. That is until I decided to practice what I preach: Going Within to embrace serenity.
Self-Hypnosis made all the difference. I wrote many scripts depending on what I needed at the time. It's easy to do. But you actually have to do it, in order for it to work.
Write out what you want, your desired outcome in a positive statement, and in the present tense. For example: "I see myself having fun with my husband (or girlfriends) on the deck of a cruise ship. I feel the sun beaming on my skin and hear us laughing. I feel so happy and relaxed being here." Notice I didn't say I am not thinking about the kids or work while I am on vacation. The subconscious mind doesn't recognize the negative - "Don't think of a purple elephant". You see what I mean...
IT'S SO EASY and so beneficial. It only takes a minute or two to close your eyes and take this mini vacation in your mind. As you know, your thoughts can either heal or hurt you. Doesn't it make sense to give yourself a little serenity by gifting yourself time to relax and take it easy? You'll be glad you did, and feel so much better, and within a few minutes!
